I've lived in Sitka for about 26 years I currently work as a fisheries biologist at ADF&G, but started out in fisheries at SJC, and managed the hatchery there many years ago. I love the feeling of safety here in Sitka and the close connections with my neighbors. I also love the seasonal rhythms of the natural world, and the incredible variety of cultural and community events here.

I have lived at Medvejie Hatchery since 1993/94 and on Baranof Island since 1986at remote fish hatcheries. I am an artist painting at home and I work also for Sitka Bike and Hike during the summertime tourist season. Just about every little thing! I love the landscape and being able to live in it. I feel very lucky to be here, to live and work here with other people who love being here, too. I like how close we are to the wilderness and to some degree, our isolation from some of the materialism Down South. I cherish our fresh air and water, especially.
